If you live in a city as cold as Melbourne, a black trench is not a want but a need.

When the weather is freezing cold and you want to get dressed up I tend to reach for an all black or monochromatic palette. Truth is, when I’m lacking a golden tan it’s easier to wear these colourless combos. My first instincts are to aim for a classic crisp white shirt and black skinny jeans but I also need to prevent this look from being too simple or common. I like the surprise element, so to give the outfit a flamboyant edge I’ll add a dramatic piece of the same shade. In this case it was this trench coat from Asilio the Label. But it’s not just any trench! The contrast of the fluid lines and flow of this jacket against the clean silhouette of the white shirt and skinny jeans was what made this coat special. It gave the outfit a sense of power, a certain amount of chic, while keeping me warm & snug. Tied, loose or layered, it just worked. A total essential for winter.

The gold circle hardware detailing of the jacket arm and belt worked so perfectly together. Was so lucky to find this circle belt from Glassons! Strong accessories really are key. A thin choker delivered an extra individual touch.
